Simply Social Coffee is brewing an expansion to Reston

Construction is underway on a new coffee shop in Reston.

Simply Social Coffee, which can currently be found in Vienna’s Cedar Park Shopping Center and next to Burlington Coat Factory just outside Fairfax City, has been working on a third location in Reston at 11511 Sunrise Valley Drive, Unit 9.

Business owner Kathy Pao was unable to provide more details on the expansion by press time, but she says it should be ready to open around mid-August.

The coffee shop will be located on the second floor of the low-lying brick building that makes up the Sunrise Valley Center, taking over a vacant suite above Expressions Dental Care.

Pao opened the original Simply Social in the Fairfax Court shopping center (11282 James Swart Circle) on Oct. 29, 2018 before adding the Vienna spot two years later.

Occupying a former BB&T Bank building, the Vienna location (262 Cedar Lane) features a drive-thru window, a “perk” that Pao viewed as part of the cafe’s focus on fostering community relationships, she told Tysons Reporter at the time.

The Reston location is 2,750 square feet in size and will seat 40 people, according to permits issued by Fairfax County. Operating hours are expected to be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In addition to coffee, Simply Social serves hot and iced tea, smoothies, hot chocolate and other drinks. The food menu varies slightly between the two locations, but both places have a variety of breakfast options — such as breakfast sandwiches, Belgium waffles, and egg, potato and meat platters — as well as salads, sandwiches, quesadillas, and black bean wraps.

The business also offers bagels, croissants, cookies and more baked goods.

Located near the Russell at Reston Station apartments and adjacent to the Kensington assisted living community, Sunrise Valley Center is mostly home to more professional or service-related retail, including a beauty salon, picture framing and custom engraving studios, and a jewelry store. Its tenants also include El Super Market, a Mexican grocery store and restaurant that opened last September.
