Fried chicken and burger chain eyes Reston for next location

A rapidly expanding restaurant chain has identified Reston for one of its newest locations.

Signage has appeared above a storefront near Home Depot for Nash & Smashed, a D.C.-area chain offering Nashville-style chicken, smashburgers and much more.

The forthcoming restaurant, located at 1675 Reston Parkway in the Home Depot Center, is expected to open in the next six months — early 2026 at the latest, according to Nash & Smashed’s ownership.

“We are opening in all [local] major cities … when we saw that shopping center, we liked it,” founder M.N. Abbasi told FFXnow.

The new restaurant will take over two storefronts in the shopping center, with work currently underway to combine the two spaces, according to Fairfax County’s permitting website.

When it opens, Nash & Smashed will occupy more than 2,000 square feet, according to property manager The Pence Group — nearly double that of the neighboring Pizza Boli’s and Mandarin Gourmet.

Nash & Smashed, which opened its first location last year in Manassas, has grown to seven locations currently open across Virginia, Maryland and D.C. It also has a stall in the Spice Village food hall at the Village Center at Dulles near Herndon.

Boasting an entirely halal menu, Nash & Smashed’s offerings are highlighted by its signature fried chicken, which comes as bone-in pieces, wings and tenders. Nashville-inspired hot chicken sandwiches are also available to customers looking for more heat.

Other offerings include its smashed burgers, which can be stacked up to four patties high, as well as fries, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and more.

For dessert, Nash & Smashed offers bistro lime fusion cake and choco dream cream pie, as well as four different flavors of milkshakes.

The company currently has 15 locations in the works, with the Reston one among three planned in Fairfax County.

Building plans were submitted to the county on July 25 to convert the Al Jannat grocery store (7609 Richmond Highway) in Hybla Valley into a fast food restaurant for Nash & Smashed. Fortunately for patrons, Al Jannat is just moving next door, not closing, the store told FFXnow, noting that the relocation will occur next week.

Commercial alteration permits have also been issued for a Lorton location at 7722 Gunston Plaza. That Nash & Smashed was expected to open in the second or third quarter of 2025, On the MoVe reported last fall.

An Arlington location, which is expected to open later this month, will further add to Nash & Smashed’s Northern Virginia portfolio.
