Shortly after 5 a.m., law enforcement received a report that a man had been shot in his vehicle while on Fantasia Drive, according to scanner traffic. The suspect was then believed to have fled the scene in a vehicle, police said.
Officers focused their investigation on a wooded area behind the intersection of Cliveden Street and Cassia Street after seeing a vehicle drive away from the scene “at a high rate of speed,” according to scanner traffic.
Shortly thereafter, however, law enforcement received another call after the alleged suspect approached a woman in Herndon and asked her to call the police, telling her that he shot somebody, according to scanner traffic.
When officers arrived at the scene, located near Bready Park and the Herndon Community Center, the suspect gave them a “full confession,” police alleged over the scanner.
The victim, who suffered life-threatening injuries, was transported to a local hospital. The man’s condition is currently unknown, as of 9 a.m.
