Drizzly overnight weather contributed to a fatal motorcycle crash on the Capital Beltway near West Falls Church, police say.

Troopers responded to the ramp from I-495 North to eastbound Route 50 (Arlington Blvd) around 5:38 a.m. for the crash, according to the Virginia State Police.

“The preliminary investigation indicates the motorcycle lost control on wet pavement and struck a guardrail,” the VSP said.

No other vehicles appear to have been involved in the crash, which remains under investigation.

This is the fourth fatal motorcycle crash to occur in Fairfax County so far in 2025, according to preliminary data reported to the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles. There were 11 fatal crashes involving motorcycles in the county last year.
