FCPD: Driver killed in crash near Reston National Golf Course

A man has died following a single-vehicle crash that occurred near Reston National Golf Course Thursday afternoon (Oct. 30).

Local police officers and responders with the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department were dispatched to Soapstone Drive at Golf Course Square in Reston around 2:41 p.m. for a crash with entrapment, according to scanner traffic.

“Call is advising one vehicle flipped into the tree line. Driver’s still in the vehicle,” a dispatcher told FCFRD Battalion 401.

The driver of the vehicle, an adult man, was ultimately declared dead at the scene, the Fairfax County Police Department reported at 4:19 p.m.

Soapstone Drive reopened around 6:20 p.m. after police closed it off between Golf Course Square and Winged Foot Court for Crash Reconstruction Unit detectives investigate.

Police identified the driver on Friday (Oct. 31) as 46-year-old Reston resident Justin Lemrow, who is believed to have been traveling south on Soapstone Drive in a 2026 BMW X7 “when his vehicle left the roadway into a tree line.”

“Preliminarily, detectives do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash,” the FCPD said in a press release. “Detectives are continuing to investigate whether speed was a factor in the crash.”
