The Fairfax County Government Center will be open tomorrow (Tuesday) for election voting and little else.

Most government facilities will be closed for Election Day, which is a designated holiday for the county. Operations affected by the closures include all Fairfax County Public Library branches and Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS) programs.

Libraries, community centers and other public facilities designated as polling places will be open to voters from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Fairfax County Government will be closed Tuesday, Nov. 4, in recognition of Election Day. Most facilities will be closed, however polling locations & Office of Elections activities will be open

County parks, rec centers and golf courses will be open as normal, but visitor centers and park amusements won’t be available, according to the Fairfax County Park Authority.

Similarly, residents who use the county’s trash and recycling collection services can expect to see their trash picked up based on their regular schedule, and the recycling and disposal centers at the I-66 Transfer Station and I-96 Landfill Complex will be open.

The Department of Public Works and Environmental Services (DPWES) offices, however, won’t reopen until 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday (Nov. 5).

The Election Day holiday extends to students enrolled in Fairfax County Public Schools, which has a scheduled teacher workday tomorrow.

While there are no national races this year, Virginia voters will still make plenty of crucial decisions tomorrow, determining the state’s next governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general and House of Delegates. The ballot will also include a school bond referendum and, for Vienna residents, all seven Vienna Town Council seats.
