Fairfax County police continue to search for a man accused of fatally shooting another man at a strip mall in Bailey’s Crossroads more than two years ago.
Javon Antonio Reid, a 34-year-old from Maryland, has been on the run ever since the May 7, 2023 shooting, the Fairfax County Police Department said Friday (Nov. 14).
Just after midnight that day, officers responded to a business in the 3800 block of South George Mason Drive after two men were reported to have been shot in the upper body.
According to scanner traffic, witnesses told police that multiple people “were all arguing” just before the shots were fired.
Maurice Anderson, a 24-year-old D.C. man, was pronounced dead after being transported to a nearby hospital.
The other man, who was unidentified by law enforcement, sustained critical injuries, but appears to have survived.
Reid left the scene before police arrived, according to the FCPD. He was charged with second-degree murder 10 days after the incident, though his whereabouts have been unknown since then.
He also faces two gun-related charges, including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. All together, the three charges carry a potential sentence of decades in prison, if convicted.
The FCPD is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to Reid’s arrest. Tips can be submitted anonymously through Crime Solvers by phone at 1-866-411-8477 and online.
