Fairfax County police are investigating the death of a man who was reportedly involved in a fight near the Dunn Loring Metro station early this morning (Monday).
Around 1:10 a.m., law enforcement responded to the intersection of Merrilee Drive and Prosperity Avenue in Merrifield after multiple callers reported a physical fight between two men.
According to scanner traffic, one man could be heard saying “Get away from me” while on the phone with a dispatcher. Sounds of an apparent struggle were then heard.
Other callers reported the scuffle, claiming that a naked man began chasing and trying to choke the other man. Within 10 minutes, however, the naked man was located laying on the ground and without a pulse, according to scanner traffic.
He was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, and later pronounced dead.
“The other involved person remained on scene,” the Fairfax County Police Department said.
The Prosperity and Merrilee intersection was temporarily closed while detectives investigated, but it reopened shortly after 7 a.m.
The deceased has not been publicly identified by the FCPD, which confirmed that he was found naked. It’s unclear what injuries the other man in the incident sustained, if any.
“Detectives are still investigating, and no other details are available at this time,” an FCPD spokesperson said.
