A 60-year-old man from Hybla Valley is being held without bond after being arrested for allegedly robbing a jewelry store in Arlington on Monday (Nov. 24).
The man was arrested Monday night (Nov. 24) in Fairfax County, just hours after the reported robbery in the 2700 block of Washington Blvd.
According to the Arlington County Police Department, officers were dispatched at around 4:21 p.m. that day after receiving a report that a man had entered the store, asked about merchandise and “allegedly grabbed the merchandise from the employee’s hands and subsequently exited the store without payment.”
“When confronted by another employee outside of the business, the suspect implied a weapon before fleeing the scene on foot with the stolen merchandise,” ACPD said.
Officers were unable to locate the man during an initial search of the area, but they took him into custody in Fairfax County that evening.
The man has been charged with robbery and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. He is being held without bond and is scheduled to make his preliminary court appearance on Jan. 14.

At approximately 4:21 p.m. on November 24, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect entered the business and inquired about merchandise. As an employee was showing the suspect the items, he allegedly grabbed the merchandise from the employee’s hands and subsequently exited the store without payment. When confronted by another employee outside of the business, the suspect implied a weapon before fleeing the scene on foot with the stolen merchandise. A lookout was broadcast, and responding officers canvassed the area for the suspect yielding negative results. Later that evening, the suspect was taken into custody in Fairfax County and was subsequently transported to Arlington County. [The suspect], 60, of Alexandria, Va., was arrested, and charged with Robbery and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. He was held without bond.
