The Vienna Police Department is searching for a vehicle used in the theft of approximately $1,000 in products from a local grocery store.
A white Honda Pilot SUV that officers learned had been stolen was used as a getaway vehicle by two men who reportedly shoplifted the groceries on Monday (Dec. 1), police said.
The incident occurred at the Giant Food grocery store, located at 359 Maple Avenue East, just before 2 p.m.
According to law enforcement, one of two suspected perpetrators jumped into the vehicle’s open hatchback as police arrived.
Disregarding officers’ commands to stop, the suspects drove northbound on Route 123 into Tysons where they sideswiped at least one other vehicle, police said.
While the suspects continued traveling southbound on I-495, police terminated their pursuit. No injuries were reported as a result of the aborted chase.
Those with information related to the vehicle or the two alleged suspects are encouraged to contact Vienna Police Sgt. Andrew Slebonick via email or at (703) 255-7848.
