Ice-skating season at Tysons’ Capital One Center begins today (Thursday).

Skaters can take to a new, 9,000-square-foot ice skating rink at the development starting at noon, Capital One Center announced.

The open-air rink has been installed at Capital One Center’s new Metro Park (1820 Capital One Drive) to commemorate the holiday season, along with a 40-foot LED “holiday tree.”

Permanent amenities at the park include an elevated deck, a play area and a “scenic pedestrian path” with seating and landscaping that now connects Capital One Center with the recently-opened north entrance to the McLean Metro station. A new parking garage will also become available at some point, serving both the development and Metro users.

“We are so excited for this next chapter at Capital One Center and look forward to hosting many festive gatherings this holiday season,” Capital One Vice President Erin Mical said in a press release.

Admission to the skating rink costs $16 for adults and $14 for children and senior citizens, though that price includes rental skates. Reservations are not required, but advance tickets can be purchased online via Eventbrite.

The rink will be open daily starting at noon on weekdays and 10 a.m. on weekends. It will also be open for extended hours on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

In all, the rink will be open until Feb. 28. It will be replaced by pickleball courts during the spring and summer months.

“The new connection with the McLean Metro station and ice rink complements nearby venues Capital One Hall, The Perch, The Watermark Hotel, Capital One Park and Capital One East Park,” Mical added, “allowing us to curate unique experiences for Capital One associates and the Greater DC Metro Area.”
