Jamaican eatery set for grand opening after moving to Fair Oaks Mall

Fair Oaks Mall will welcome the second chapter of a local Jamaican restaurant later this month.

Jas & Fam Caribbean Flavor will celebrate its grand opening in the mall (11709L Fair Oaks Mall) on Jan. 17, following the closure of its restaurant at 3850 Blenheim Blvd in Fairfax City last September.

Located on the first floor of the mall, the restaurant has been in a soft opening since late last month.

The business, which also operates a food truck and catering services, offers a wide variety of traditional Caribbean cuisine, highlighted by jerk chicken, curried goat and other items.

Inspired by its founders’ mother, Jas & Fam’s menu features seven different main dishes, which come in either medium or large sizes. Those include jerk chicken and wings, oxtail, curried chicken and more.

The main dishes also come with the choice of two sides, with options including rice and peas, mac and cheese, coleslaw and more.

Diners can also select other offerings, such as jerk shrimp pasta, oxtail pasta, cod fish fritters and more. Lunch specials are available on weekdays from noon to 2 p.m.

“Just think about your favorite Jamaican meal,” the restaurant’s website says. “We can prepare it.”

After the grand opening, the Fair Oaks Mall restaurant will be open daily starting at 11 a.m. It will close at 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, at 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and at 6 p.m. on Sundays.
