A pedestrian seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash in Annandale this morning (Wednesday) has now died, the Fairfax County Police Department says.
Police are still working to identify the driver of a dark-colored sedan that’s believed to have been involved in the crash, which occurred around 7:02 a.m. on Little River Turnpike near Shelley Lane, according to a press release.
The driver was traveling west on Little River Turnpike when they struck Christopher Young, a 34-year-old Annandale resident who was crossing the road, police say, based on a preliminary investigation.
“The driver of the vehicle did not stop,” the FCPD said. “Young was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased.”
The eastbound lanes of Little River Turnpike near the intersection were closed for a crash reconstruction investigation, police said.
Young is the first pedestrian to be killed in Fairfax County this year, but there were 13 such fatalities in 2025, including five that haven’t appeared yet in state data.
Crash Reconstruction detectives are enroute to investigate. Eastbound lanes of Little River Tpke at Wakefield Chapel Rd are closed. Please seek an alternate route. Call 911 w/ info. [2/2]
