An already busy Centreville shopping center flanked by H Mart, Spa World and various eateries was even more crowded than usual when the Japanese department store Teso Life opened last Friday (Jan. 16).
The chain carries a variety of Japanese and other Asian home goods, food, personal care items and more. Its new location in the Old Centreville Crossing shopping center (13860 Braddock Road) is the first in Virginia and the second in the D.C. region, following an opening in Rockville, Maryland, in 2024.
The grand opening weekend from Friday through Sunday drew lines that stretched down the shopping center, as customers waited a half hour to one hour or more to browse the store and earn freebies.
FFXnow reached out to Teso Life for comment on the Centreville store’s busy opening but did not receive a response.
Teso Life was founded in Queens, New York in 2017, seeking to provide products from Japanese and other Asian suppliers to U.S. shoppers. With the Virginia opening, it has stores in 11 states, and more are in the pipeline.
Products range from refrigerated and frozen foods, candies, drinks and snacks to home goods, toys, collectibles and beauty and personal care products.
Operating hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily at the Centreville store.
