Most flights canceled at Dulles, National airports due to snow

Snowplows clear airfield at Dulles International Airport during Winter Storm Fern (via Dulles Airport/X)

All flights from Reagan National Airport and most from Dulles International Airport have been canceled today (Sunday) due to the ongoing Winter Storm Fern.

According to a 7 a.m. update, snow began to fall at Dulles around midnight, and the airport has a snow team working to keep at least one runway open, though most flight activity has been suspended.

“Check with your airline to confirm or rebook,” the airport said. “During inclement weather events, most airlines waive change fees. Use your airline’s website, app, chat function or customer service contact to make changes from the comfort of your home or hotel.”

Limited concessions are available in each terminal, with a focus on food and travel essentials. The west screening checkpoint has been closed in the main terminal, where international arrivals are also being processed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Right now, Dulles Airport anticipates opening all terminals tomorrow (Monday), but more details will be shared on its website when available.

The full advisory is below:

Snow began around midnight at IAD. The airport snow team is actively clearing snow from the airfield.
