Backyard furniture retailer announces new Springfield shop

One of America’s largest backyard furniture retailers has announced plans to open a store in Springfield.

Fortunoff Backyard Store has secured an 11,000-square-foot space in Springfield Commons (6721-B Frontier Drive), which is expected to open later this spring, the company announced.

The company is targeting “early March” to open the new store, according to a press release. It will be the brand’s fourth Virginia location, joining stores in Falls Church, Sterling and Woodbridge.

“Within the last 18 months, we have entered the suburban D.C. market with three stores,” a spokesperson said. “This fourth location is a great compliment to those existing stores and represents our commitment to the market.”

The New York-based brand operates more than two dozen showrooms across the east coast, each offering a wide selection of outdoor dining furniture, chairs, sofas, end tables and much more.

“Every collection comes in a variety of configurations, each crafted from high-quality materials such as outdoor wicker, aluminum, teak, polymer, and designed with outdoor performance in mind,” the press release said.

Also offered are a variety of outdoor accessories, like fire pits, umbrellas and pool floats, among others.

Ahead of the store’s opening, the storefront is undergoing approximately half a million dollars in renovations, according to Fairfax County’s permitting portal.
