Sweetgreen opening new Tysons location soon with giveaways

Fast-casual salad and bowl chain Sweetgreen will debut its latest location in Tysons with giveaways and support for a local nonprofit.

Sweetgreen will open on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 8405 Leesburg Pike in Tysons. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the location will serve seasonal light bites from Sterling-based restaurant Local Provisions and offer plants from Falls Church-based Botanologica.

On opening day, Sweetgreen will donate a meal to food assistance nonprofit Food for Others to benefit Northern Virginia residents facing food insecurity.

Ahead of the opening, customers can sign up for a time slot to receive a free bowl on Friday, Feb. 13 or Saturday, Feb. 14. From 6-7 p.m., Sweetgreen and Botanologica will host a free Succulent Garden Workshop for registered guests.

Sweetgreen offers a selection of salads, warm bowls, protein plates and sides. Some menu options may rotate seasonally, like the Winter Harvest Bowl with roasted chicken, maple glazed squash, balsamic cabbage, goat cheese, almonds, kale, wild rice and apple vinaigrette.

The chain said it is bringing back feta as an ingredient for menu items based on customer demand.

Spanning 3,030 square feet of space with a couple of tables outside for when the weather is more pleasant, this will be the second Sweetgreen location in Tysons — joining another in Tysons Galleria — and the sixth in Fairfax County, following an opening at McLean’s Chesterbrook Shopping Center last November.

Hours for the new Tysons location will be 10 a.m.-10 p.m. daily. Part of Pike 7 Plaza, the eatery is located in a freestanding building with fellow fast-casual chains Cava and Honeygrow.
