Hello Kitty Cafe Truck will roll into Tysons this weekend

Spring break is around the corner, and so is the Hello Kitty Cafe Truck.

The beloved mobile pop-up will pull into Tysons Corner Center (1961 Chain Bridge Road) this Saturday (March 28), selling exclusive Hello Kitty-themed treats and memorabilia at PenFed Plaza near Shake Shack from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Fresh off its 10th anniversary last year, the truck’s annual visit to Tysons, typically scheduled in the spring, is part of a nationwide tour that will also include three stops in Maryland next month. The truck will then head to Philadelphia on April 25.

Items available this time will include:

  • 10th Anniversary items: Keychains, thermal bottles, mugs, tumblers, T-shirts, blankets, sweatshirts and Hello Kitty Cafe plush toys
  • Sweet Treats: 10th Anniversary Cookies, 5-piece macaron sets, and Madeleines

Hello Kitty’s parent company, Sanrio, introduced the cafe truck in 2014. Since then, the trucks have visited more than 100 cities in the U.S., and pop-up and permanent mini cafes have also opened at shopping centers around the world, starting in 2016.

More than 900 people have already RSVP’d through Facebook for the Hello Kitty Cafe Truck’s upcoming Tysons stop, which will come one day before the National Cherry Blossom Festival takes over the mall’s plaza for a “Blossom Bash” festival on Sunday (March 29).
