Life-size Lego Star Wars event coming to Seven Corners

A life-size Lego Star Wars experience will bring an immersive world to a Seven Corners business this weekend.

Starting at 10 a.m. on Sunday (April 19), the neighborhood’s Target store, located at 6100 Arlington Blvd, will host the installation to commemorate the brand’s new SMART Play initiative.

“Guests will step into a life-size, immersive world, becoming the hero of their own journey as they choose their path to save the day,” an announcement of the event said.

Attendees will also be among the first to try the brand’s new SMART System, which incorporates newly-developed technology to “create a brick that plays back,” Lego said.

The bricks feature “responsive lights, a color-recognition scanner to sense its surroundings, a sound synthesizer that plays almost any sound, and a built-in accelerometer,” and can detect “the way it is twisted, turned and tapped during play,” according to Lego’s website.

Additionally, attendees will be able to participate in a free “make and take” build of a Lego Star Wars character, while supplies last.

The event, which runs until 5 p.m., will be held in Target’s parking lot weather permitting, according to a spokesperson.

Lego’s Smart Play Adventures pop-up launched in Georgia last month and has since appeared at Target stores in Florida, Texas, California, Minnesota and Illinois. After stopping in Seven Corners, the tour will continue to Jersey City on April 26 and Woburn, Massachusetts, on May 3.
