Hyatt Regency in Tysons completes ‘fashion-inspired’ room redesign

The Hyatt Regency hotel at Tysons Corner Center has put the finishing touches on a new look for its guest rooms.

The $13 million redesign, led by the Texas-based interior design firm FlickMars, transformed the hotel’s 300 rooms with furniture and decor inspired by the kinds of fashion brands that shoppers will find at the neighboring mall, according to a press release.

Branded as “Styled for Living: Where Fashion Meets Hospitality,” the concept can be seen in details such as:

  • Upholstered beds that reflect the structure and movement of couture garments
  • Headboards inspired by luxury handbags and accessories
  • Desk chairs designed with subtle references to tailored suits and pocket squares
  • Corridor carpets that mimic jewelry textures and finishes

“This redesign is about building on what already works and taking it further,” Hyatt Regency General Manager Christine Nerone said in the release. “… By combining fashion-inspired design with practical comfort and direct access to Tysons Corner Center, the redesigned rooms offer guests a space that feels both styled and livable, with a more residential feel.”

Opened in April 2015 at 7901 Tysons One Place, the 18-story Hyatt Regency Tysons Corner Center was the first new full-service hotel to open in Tysons in more than 20 years, Hyatt said at the time.

The hotel’s arrival followed the opening of Tysons Corner Center’s plaza — now called PenFed Plaza — the previous summer, as mall owner Macerich advanced plans to turn the shopping destination into a more mixed-use development. Just a month after Hyatt launched, the property’s first residents started moving into the new 30-story, 429-unit Vita apartments.

Per the release, Macerich partnered with its fellow Hyatt Regency owner, the Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation, and manager Woodbine Development Corporation, on the hotel room redesign in an effort “to more seamlessly integrate hospitality into the overall retail and lifestyle experience.”

To promote that integration, the mall is planning a series of personalized shopping experiences, in-room styling, family-friendly activities and other “collaborations” between the hotel and retailers like American Girl, Level99, the pop-up Hershey Super Sweet Experience and AMC Theatres.

Hyatt Regency is also offering a “New Room, New Stay” package through Sept. 30 that includes complimentary self-parking for one vehicle per night and a $50 food and beverage credit. The promotion is available for stays through Jan. 31, 2027.

“By integrating hospitality more intentionally into the broader retail ecosystem, we are reinforcing our commitment to creating environments that go beyond shopping, blending retail, dining, entertainment, and now elevated fashionable lodging into a cohesive, modern lifestyle experience,” Macerich Assistant Vice President of National Operations Jesse Benites said.

“The transformation at Hyatt Regency Tysons Corner Center reflects a forward-looking strategy focused on long-term value, placemaking, and meeting the expectations of today’s consumer,” he continued.
