Feline friends in Fairfax have a new place they can stay while their humans are away.
Brittni Loutzenheiser and Nicolas Martinez, a married couple from Alexandria, will host a grand opening celebration of their new business, Happy Cat Hotel & Pet Spa Fairfax, tomorrow (Saturday) from noon to 4 p.m. The event will include tours, vendors, raffles and giveaways, and an opportunity to meet the owners.
The new facility at 3220 Blenheim Blvd will offer private suites with enrichment activities for its occupants in a peaceful environment designed around feline behavior, Loutzenheiser told FFXnow over email. The Fairfax location is part of the wider Happy Cat franchise.
“We already knew there was a strong demand for cat-only boarding and grooming in Northern Virginia, and while there are several options for traditional boarding in and around the City of Fairfax, we noticed a gap in a feline-focused boarding experience,” Loutzenheiser said.
“We wanted to create a peaceful, upscale environment where cats can be comfortable and their owners can feel confident that they are being well cared for,” she continued. “Additionally, Fairfax has a great community feel.”
The couple were customers of Happy Cat’s Alexandria outpost at 2391 S. Dove Street. When Nicholas retired after 22 years in the Army, they decided to open a location of their own.
“We’ve always been lifelong cat lovers, and our own cat, Oscar, was a huge inspiration for the business,” Loutzenheiser wrote. “He was with us for 20 years, and we wanted to create the kind of place where cats were given the same level of thought that we’d give them in our own home.”
The new Fairfax City location will offer customers personalized updates, and many suites are equipped with 24-hour webcam access. Bookings are being accepted for Aug. 16 onward.
“We are looking forward to building lasting relationships with all of the cats and paw-rents who come to Happy Cat,” said Loutzenheiser.
