Investigators are offering a monetary reward to anyone who can help them track down the person responsible for a recent shooting in Groveton’s Lafayette Apartments neighborhood.
Officers were dispatched to the 3500 block of Robert E. Lee Place at 10:25 a.m. on Sept. 12 for the reported shooting, which left an adult man with multiple gunshot wounds.
Found in a vehicle, the man was transported to a hospital in life-threatening condition, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.
“Preliminary, detectives determined that the victim was driving through a parking lot when the suspect, who was on foot, fired multiple rounds into the victim’s vehicle,” the FCPD said yesterday (Sept. 22) in a press release.
While the shooter fled the area in a vehicle, the victim continued driving through the apartment complex’s parking lot until he crashed into two parked, unoccupied vehicles, police say.
The Crime Solvers of Fairfax County, a nonprofit that partners with the FCPD, is offering a $5,000 reward for any tips that lead to an arrest. The offer is being matched by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), bringing the total possible reward up to $10,000.
“Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to call our Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800, option 2,” the FCPD said.
Tips can also be submitted to the Crime Solvers online or through its phone tip line at 866-411-8477. Established in October 1979, the organization holds fundraising events and collects community donations to provide reward money for tipsters, according to its website.
