Tysons residents and visitors have another month to revel in artwork from the Sistine Chapel.

The production company behind “Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition,” which features reproductions of the artist’s ceiling paintings, announced today (Wednesday) that the exhibit will now remain in Tysons Corner Center through April 17.

The exhibit first opened at the mall on Jan. 28 for what was supposed to be a month-long showing.

“We were overwhelmed with the response from area guests wanting to visit the exhibition,” said Sylvia Noland, the business development manager at SEE Global Entertainment, which produced the exhibit. “We just couldn’t leave the area without offering four more weeks for people to experience Michelangelo’s work.”

The exhibit has drawn 23,391 guests to date at Tysons Corner Center, according to SEE spokesperson Melanie Nelson.

It is also currently available in seven other locations in the U.S., along with showings in Melbourne, Australia, and the U.K. Worldwide, more than 500,000 people have attended a showing in the past six months.

According to the press release, tickets to the exhibit are available for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays through Saturdays and from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sundays.

Prices start at $23 for adults and $16.10 for youth with discounts offered for seniors, students, military service members, and family bundles.

Tickets are being sold for half-hour time slots to control capacity in the 10,000-square-foot exhibition space, which is located on the mall’s lower level across from H&M.

The timed ticketing system allows for a sold-out capacity of 80 tickets for each 30-minute block, Nelson says.
