A shooting in Herndon earlier this month remains under investigation, the Fairfax County Police Department says.
Several community members reported hearing gunshots around 5:31 a.m. on April 16, drawing police to the 2100 block of Astoria Circle, just outside the Town of Herndon’s limits. Upon arriving, officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds.
The man was transported to a hospital with injuries considered life-threatening, but his condition later improved, police said in an update on Friday (April 22).
The man was released from the hospital yesterday (Monday), the FCPD told FFXnow.
“Our detectives continue to investigate this shooting and are working to determine if the parties involved were known to each other,” police said.
According to police, no additional injuries were reported, but police found multiple shell cases at the scene of the shooting, and “several community members reported property damage.”
As stated on the morning of the shooting, police believe the suspects left the area in a silver sedan.
The FCPD advises anyone with information about the case to contact its Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800. The department also accepts anonymous tips through Crime Solvers by phone, text, and online.
“Anonymous tipsters are eligible for cash rewards of $100 to $1,000 dollars,” the FCPD said. “Please leave contact information if you wish for a detective to follow up with you.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!
