(Updated at 3:30 p.m.) A man was found dead in a wooded area in Reston this morning (Tuesday) in a suspected homicide, the Fairfax County Police Department said in a social media post.
Detectives arrived on the scene in the 12000 block of Greywing Square around 4 a.m. Police said the man was found with trauma to the upper body and was pronounced deceased.
In an update at 2:35 p.m., police identified the victim as a Hispanic man in his 20s. He was reportedly found on the footpath behind an apartment building in the Colts Neck area.
According to the FCPD, the man was found by a community member who was walking her dogs and “immediately contacted police.”
“Detectives are asking anyone with information to please contact the Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800, option 2,” the department said by email.

Owners of six Woofie’s franchises in Northern Virginia are hosting “Paws in the Park,” a pet adoption event on May 18 at 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (rain date May 19) at Wolf Trap National Park, Wolf Trap Farm Park, 1645 Trap Road, Vienna. Woofie’s will have about 20 mobile spa vans on site, offering free nail trims and Wash ‘n Go baths for rescued dogs and pups up for adoption, and special event pricing for families who bring their own pets for grooming (as time permits/allows).
