A news team from FOX5 D.C. will zip into Fairfax City tomorrow (Friday) morning for a live episode showcasing local businesses and student athletes.

FOX5 Good Day D.C. has chosen the city as the next subject of its “Zip Trip” series, which highlights different communities around the D.C. region. The morning show’s hosts, Marissa Mitchell, Tucker Barnes and Annie Mae, will visit the Old Town Square area from 7-11 a.m.

“Residents, neighbors and kids of all ages who want to celebrate the history and spirit of Fairfax are encouraged to come share hometown pride and have the chance to be on live TV!” FOX5 said.

Broadcast live on TV and streamed on the FOX5 D.C. website, the episode will feature young martial arts and wrestling athletes as well as local businesses, such as Brooke’s Bridal & Ball, Sun and Moon Yoga Studio, and Woody’s Ice Cream.

The city’s culinary scene will get its own spotlight with a “Taste of…” segment, where the Good Day hosts will talk to the chefs and owners of different restaurants, including De Clieu Coffee Shop, Ned’s New England Deck, and Old Dominion Pizza.

According to FOX5, the Zip Trips have been a staple of its summer programming for 10 years now. The series has featured Fairfax City twice before in 2021: once when entertainment reporter Kevin McCarthy sampled breakfast food from Fairfax Bakery, and again for a “5 Must Stops” segment highlighting different destinations.

Before visiting a location, Zip Trip planners research new businesses and attractions to determine which ones to feature. For tomorrow’s episode, the team got an assist from the local chamber of commerce, which offered recommendations for “local businesses that are loved by the community or anything that is new and fun for the Good Day team to share with viewers.”

“FOX5 loves the region and the energy of the people so they are always happy to come back to Fairfax,” FOX5 said in a statement to FFXnow.

Zip Trip previously visited Reston for a “5 Must Stops” segment, and the show is scheduled to swing by Herndon on Aug. 9.
