An annual fundraiser supporting Special Olympics Virginia is set to return to Dulles International Airport next week.

The 32nd annual Dulles Day is scheduled to be held Saturday, September 14. Entry to the event is free, but visitors can participate in a variety of activities with a donation.

“More than 12,000 people are expected to attend this free open house on the airfield,” the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority said in an advisory.

The headliner of the event is the Plane Pull, where teams of 25 compete to pull an 82-ton plane 12 feet in the fastest amount of time. As of this morning (Friday), the event has raised nearly $350,000 for the Special Olympics.

Teams must each raise at least $2,500 to participate. Attendees may also contribute small donations to participate in a truck pull ($10), ride in an airport fire truck ($5) or receive a tour of the airport’s mobile lounges ($1).

Other planned Dulles Day festivities include a classic car show, aircraft displays and live music. Food and drink will be available for purchase.

Parking is free for attendees, but those coming to the event are encouraged to ride the Metro. The event is expected to end around 4 p.m.

Correction: Dulles Day is now in its 32nd year, not its 14th as initially stated.
