A Lincolnia man was arrested yesterday (Thursday) after fatally beating his mother, Fairfax County police say.

Officers were called to a house in the 6300 block of Lincolnia Road around 9:40 a.m. for a report of a deceased person, according to the Fairfax County Police Department. They found John Kim, 39, at the scene, along with his mother, 75-year-old Myong Kim, who was suffering from injuries to the upper body.

Myong Kim was declared dead at the scene. After an investigation, detectives determined that John Kim had assaulted and ultimately killed his mother, the FCPD said in a press release published today (Friday).

John Kim has been charged with second-degree murder and is now in custody at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.

“Detectives continue to conduct interviews, collect video surveillance, and process evidence recovered from the scene to determine the circumstances that led up to the fatal assault,” the FCPD said.
