Two teens and one adult have been arrested in connection with a recent burglary of the Kile Mart at Lake Anne Plaza in Reston.
Officers were dispatched to the convenience store at 1611 Washington Plaza at 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 12 after a security alarm was triggered, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.
“Three unknown suspects forced entry into the business and stole vape products and other merchandise,” the FCPD said. “The suspects fled the business before police arrival.”
A couple of days later, the department released surveillance camera footage that showed the reported burglary, asking the public for assistance in identifying the three individuals seen in the video.
“Detectives believe one of the suspects sustained a cut to their hand or arm during the burglary,” police noted in the Oct. 14 press release.
The appeal to the community apparently paid off. The FCPD announced yesterday (Tuesday) that all three people have been identified and were taken into custody, thanks to its Criminal Investigations Division detectives’ work and tips submitted through its Crime Solvers portal.
An unnamed 17-year-old was arrested on Oct. 14 after officers received a service call for a home in the 1600 block of Wainwright Drive in Reston. While at the residence, police confirmed that the teen was one of the suspects in the Kile Mart burglary, the FCPD says.
Police have obtained petitions charging the teen with burglary, grand larceny and property destruction.
A 15-year-old who was taken into custody on Nov. 5 is facing the same charges, according to the FCPD.
Police also arrested a 20-year-old man from Annandale on Oct. 31 after detectives and officers patrolling the Franconia Police District found and identified him as a suspect.
The man has been charged with two counts of burglary, grand larceny of goods valued over $1,000 and property destruction — all felonies — as well as contributing to the delinquency of minors, a misdemeanor.
The man was released from the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on his own recognizance after a Fairfax County General District Court bond hearing on Nov. 7, according to online court records. He is scheduled to appear in court again for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 5, 2026.
