Community Engagement Meeting

On 4/22/2026, at 6PM, Fairfax County Supervisor Rodney Lusk will hold a community meeting to discuss the proposed development of approximately 10.9 acres of land into 86 age-restricted (55+) residential units in 50ft-four-story townhomes at the intersection of Beulah and Steinway Streets, Alexandria, VA. The residents who live in Kingstowne and the surrounding communities believe this development does not conform to the neighborhood.

FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES: Fairfax County is currently reviewing a Special Exception (SE-2025-FR-00044) to develop the above project. This development is an industrial-scale proposal with 24/7 operations to include medical services, transportation, meal and linen deliveries on-site. The Kingstowne Board of Trustees and the communities surrounding the proposed development are not in favor of this project as submitted. This development would bring a significant change in density and scale (1-2 units per acre up to 8 units per acre) to the surrounding communities, increase traffic congestion along the Beulah St. corridor, eliminate nearly 11 acres of contiguous forest that is home to several species of wildlife, and other reasons.

The affected communities created a website, ktneighbors.com, that has a lot of good information on this project to include an on-line petition and a sample letter that can be used to inform Fairfax County of any opposition to this development. We want to be heard, and we would like everyone’s help.
