A man who allegedly fired a gun in the area of Reston’s Shadowood Condominiums this morning (Monday) is now in police custody.

Police officers and medical responders with the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department were dispatched to an address on Stoneview Square for a shooting at around 8:49 a.m., according to scanner traffic.

“Preliminarily, the man was involved in an altercation before a firearm was discharged,” the Fairfax County Police Department said on social media at 11:49 a.m. “He then entered a residence and refused to come out.”

The barricade in the 2200 block of Castle Rock Square drew a sizable emergency response. A tipster told FFXnow shortly before 10 a.m. that police cars, an ambulance and a helicopter had been circling the area off of South Lakes Drive for about an hour.

However, no injuries have been reported, and no people were taken hostage during the barricade, the FCPD says. Officers were able to detain the man before noon.

“Officers remain on scene as they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident,” the FCPD said.
