A driver was taken to a hospital earlier this afternoon (Wednesday) after crashing into a tree on Route 123 (Dolley Madison Blvd) in McLean during rush hour.
Police officers and Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department personnel were dispatched at around 3:51 p.m. for the single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Dolley Madison and Mayflower Drive.
“Preliminarily, officers determined that the vehicle crossed into the oncoming lanes of traffic before striking a tree,” the Fairfax County Police Department told FFXnow.
The driver was taken to a local hospital with injuries described by police as non-life-threatening. The driver, an adult man, was the only person in the vehicle.
The crash required a closure of all eastbound lanes on Dolley Madison Blvd at the intersection, but the FCPD says it didn’t take long for responders to clear the scene.
“The road was cleared and reopened shortly after the accident,” the department’s public affairs bureau said.
