The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution Fairfax recently honored public-service professionals at a chapter meeting, and presented a Law Enforcement Medal and Commendation to Capt. Tu Farhan of the Vienna Police Department.
Farhan has been a member of the department since 2000. According to his award citation, “during his tenure, Capt. Farhan has excelled as an officer, detective [and] supervisor and now he is helping to lead the agency as a captain.”
Department officials said Farhan continually challenges himself and others to improve performance by researching best practices and making training a priority.
Farhan is fluent in five foreign languages and routinely uses his linguistic skills to assist officers with translation, which helps bridge the gap when language is a barrier.
The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution Fairfax bestows the Law Enforcement Commendation and Medal to those who have served with distinction and devotion in the field of law enforcement. The medal is intended to recognize exceptional service or accomplishment.
