Council OKs Design Contract to Replace Asphalt Trail with Concrete on Park Street, S.E.: Concrete sidewalks run the length of the west side of Park Street, S.E., from Maple Avenue, E., to Fardale Street, S.E., but on the street’s east side, just slightly more than half of the walkways are concrete.
The Vienna Town Council is proposing to replace about 3,500 linear feet of existing asphalt trail along the Park Street’s east side with concrete sidewalks and on June 5 awarded Urban Ltd. a $146,000 contract to perform the necessary design work.
As part of its contractual obligations, the company will hold public-engagement meetings to discuss the project’s design with town residents.
Paving Work Coming to 7 Vienna Streets: Seven Vienna streets will be repaved soon, following the Vienna Town Council’s June 5 decision to spend an additional $221,000 with Arthur Construction Inc.
The company will repave:
• Colin Lane, N.W., from Lawyers Road, N.W., until the street’s end at a cost of $25,532.

Town staff selected the projects based on the streets’ Pavement Condition Index ranking and will notify in advance residents who will be affected by the construction, as well as provide points of contact.
Bricks Out, Stamped Asphalt Coming at Church, Mill Streets: Brick crosswalks have been an attractive mainstay along Vienna’s historic Church Street, but now that those pavers need to be replaced, town officials will substitute brick-like stamped-asphalt sections in their stead.
The Vienna Town Council on June 5 awarded a $106,500 contract to Arthur Construction Co. Inc. to replace existing brick crosswalks at the intersection of Church and Mill streets, N.E., and install Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at the location.
The intersection for years has been where the town has lighted its holiday tree during the Church Street Holiday Stroll.
