PARK AUTHORITY TO CLOSE OAKMONT RECenter BRIEFLY IN LATE SUMMER:
The Fairfax County Park Authority will close Oakmont RECenter in Oakton from Aug. 19 through Sept. 14 to conduct several improvements following the close of summer camps.
The agency will perform several building-maintenance projects and upgrades simultaneously to minimize the length of the closure.
The Park Authority will perform work on the facility’s exhaust and heating-and-cooling systems; upgrade the building’s painting, shelving and furniture; improve bathrooms; make ceiling and lighting repairs; improve skylights and atriums; and do roof replacements.
During the closure, patrons may use any of the Park Authority’s other RECenters, including nearby Spring Hill RECenter at 1239 Spring Hill Road in McLean and Providence RECenter at 7525 Marc Drive in Falls Church.
Oakmont Golf Center will remain open throughout the project and the Oakmont Farmers’ Market will continue to be held on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to noon for the rest of the summer.
