“Art in Daily Spaces”, an exhibition of 21 local artists in a variety of media, opens to the public April 5 in six locations across Annandale. The exhibition, now in its second year, was organized by Community Arts for Everyone (CAFE) and sponsored by ArtsFairfax, Fairfax County’s leading arts non-profit. The installation kicks-off with an opening reception for the public on April 5 from 6-8pm at the Mason Governmental Center. The public is encouraged to attend the opening to meet the artists and to visit all exhibition sites during the show. This year’s show closes May 4.
“Art in Daily Spaces,” transforms locally well-known spaces into temporary art galleries. The 21 participating artists demonstrate a wide range of styles and media. In keeping with the local focus, the show reflects artists in all stages of their artistic development. The gallery spaces are, with one exception, found along Columbia Pike and include RAMP (the training facility), Beanetics (the coffee facility), St Albans Episcopal and John Calvin Presbyterian Churches, the Mason Governmental Center, and the George Mason Regional Library. All sites are open to the public, although visiting times may be limited to business hours and, in the case of the library, times when the space is not being otherwise used by the public. Each location features a minimum of two artists, with the Library hosting an impressive seven separate creators.
