The mall has announced an extensive lineup of events for the next few months, highlighted by the introduction of the Giving Garden, a 500-square-foot urban farm that was installed on the Plaza Wednesday night (May 15).

Tom Sietsema, a critic for the newspaper since 2000, included The Maple Room in Vienna and Peter Chang in McLean on his round-up of the 26 best new restaurants in the D.C. area. The list was published yesterday (Wednesday) as part of a spring 2024 dining guide to celebrate “what’s new, but also what’s worth your time and money,” Sietsema wrote.

News that the Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) will eliminate the Kendale Woods Park pickleball courts came as a complete surprise to Sarah Wysocki.

An Annandale resident whose house backs up to the park, Wysocki says she and other neighbors first learned about the plan to renovate the courts in June from Annandale Today, which shared the FCPA’s announcement on May 3.

The Canopy, a planned assisted living community that was once supposed to open in Reston last year, has resurfaced with hopes of attracting a broader range of future residents.

Developer Silverstone Senior Living submitted a rezoning application to Fairfax County on May 6 that would allow it to provide independent living units in the facility at 10819 Leesburg Pike, along with the previously approved assisted living and memory care services.

After halting acceptances of new students, the school is observing its last day of business today (Wednesday).

The developer behind Reston Station celebrated a milestone last week in its construction of a new Marriott hotel.

Comstock held a “topping out” ceremony last Wednesday (May 8) at 1800 Reston Row Plaza for the 26-story JW Marriott Hotel and Residences, the hospitality brand’s first location in Virginia and an anchor for the future Row at Reston Station neighborhood.

(Updated at 8:50 p.m.) One man was killed and another seriously injured in a shooting in Centreville this morning, police said.

Officers were dispatched around 9:30 a.m. to in the 14600 block of Route 29 after getting a call that shots had been fired in a commercial parking lot, Fairfax County Police Department Capt. Kent Bailey said in a media briefing shortly after 11:30 a.m.

A woman has been hospitalized with critical injuries after a car crash in Reston’s Summer Ridge neighborhood near the North Point Village Center.

Fairfax County police officers and medics were dispatched to the 1500 block of Summerchase Court around 6:19 p.m. for a two-vehicle crash “with entrapment,” according to scanner traffic on Open MHz.

After a successful preview at last month’s Taste of Vienna, the men behind Evelyn Rose seem confident that their upcoming restaurant will prove worthy of its location.

The brainchild of owner Sam Schnoebelen and chef Nick Palermo, Evelyn Rose is on track to open in late May at 111 Church Street NW, replacing Bazin’s on Church after the bistro ended an 18-year run on April 27.
