Sunday Morning Bakehouse is now serving its signature croissants and donuts in Tysons.

After giving local residents a preview with occasional pop-ups earlier this year, the bakery officially opened its doors on Sunday (Sept. 21) at 1796 Chain Bridge Road in Heming, the 28-story apartment and retail building in the Scotts Run neighborhood near the McLean Metro station.

Drivers may notice an abundance of tree trimming along the George Washington Memorial Parkway over the next couple of months.

The National Park Service announced yesterday (Monday) that crews will spend the next eight weeks maintaining and evaluating trees along the southern section of the parkway between Mount Vernon and the Belle Haven area just south of Alexandria.

A Lorton man has been convicted of murder after he shot his girlfriend last year, though he claimed to police that she had died by suicide.

Huy Tien Nguyen, 48, was convicted of second-degree murder by a Fairfax County Circuit Court jury today (Monday), a charge that could result in up to 40 years in prison, Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano announced.

Fairfax County Public Library (FCPL) officials see a way to avoid considering any serious budget cuts for nearly a decade, but it hinges on a big gamble: construction projects starting on schedule.

For fiscal year 2027, which will begin on July 1, 2026, the public library system is seeking its current funding of $36.5 million after the county directed all agencies stick to their existing service levels, according to a memo submitted by FCPL Director Eric Carzon to Fairfax County Department of Management and Budget Director Phil Hagen on Friday (Sept. 12).

A physical therapist employed by Inova Health System has been charged with sexually assaulting one of his patients.

According to the Fairfax County Police Department, officers were called to Inova’s Center for Personalized Health campus on Innovation Park Drive in Merrifield at 12:28 p.m. on Monday (Sept. 8) after a woman reported being sexually assaulted by her physical therapist during an appointment.
