Sunday Morning Bakehouse is now serving its signature croissants and donuts in Tysons.

After giving local residents a preview with occasional pop-ups earlier this year, the bakery officially opened its doors on Sunday (Sept. 21) at 1796 Chain Bridge Road in Heming, the 28-story apartment and retail building in the Scotts Run neighborhood near the McLean Metro station.

Both of the top federal prosecutors in Virginia resigning within a month of each other, reportedly after facing pressure from the Trump administration, is cause for alarm, Fairfax County’s Democratic supervisors say.

Board of Supervisors Chairman Jeff McKay and his Democratic colleagues urged Congress and judges in the Eastern District of Virginia to intervene after interim U.S. Attorney Erik Siebert resigned on Friday (Sept. 19) under circumstances they argued “appear politically motivated, and malicious.”

Work to address ‘hazardous’ trees along southern GW Parkway begins

Drivers may notice an abundance of tree trimming along the George Washington Memorial Parkway over the next couple of months.

The National Park Service announced yesterday (Monday) that crews will spend the next eight weeks maintaining and evaluating trees along the southern section of the parkway between Mount Vernon and the Belle Haven area just south of Alexandria.

JUST IN: Lorton man convicted of murdering girlfriend

A Lorton man has been convicted of murder after he shot his girlfriend last year, though he claimed to police that she had died by suicide.

Huy Tien Nguyen, 48, was convicted of second-degree murder by a Fairfax County Circuit Court jury today (Monday), a charge that could result in up to 40 years in prison, Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano announced.

How Fairfax County Public Library hopes to avoid ‘ugly’ budget cuts

Fairfax County Public Library (FCPL) officials see a way to avoid considering any serious budget cuts for nearly a decade, but it hinges on a big gamble: construction projects starting on schedule.

For fiscal year 2027, which will begin on July 1, 2026, the public library system is seeking its current funding of $36.5 million after the county directed all agencies stick to their existing service levels, according to a memo submitted by FCPL Director Eric Carzon to Fairfax County Department of Management and Budget Director Phil Hagen on Friday (Sept. 12).

Developer claims Old Town Fairfax project slowed by city leadership changes

Updated 9/16 — City of Fairfax officials said the project was not slowed by leadership changes. According to a spokesperson for the City:

The land use application for the City Center West project has been deemed inactive, as your article states, but the same status exists for the “Block A” proposal.  Attached is the July 4, 2025, letter notifying Ox Hill that the City Center West site plan application was void and closed due to inactivity.

Celebration of the Arts festival to take over Capital One Center in Tysons this fall

For two days next month, Capital One Center in Tysons will give the arts precedence over traffic.

The mixed-use development will close its streets on Oct. 4-5 for the first-ever Celebration of the Arts, a free outdoor festival that will offer exhibits, workshops, live music, food vendors and more.

BREAKING: Physical therapist charged with sexually assaulting patient at Inova campus

A physical therapist employed by Inova Health System has been charged with sexually assaulting one of his patients.

According to the Fairfax County Police Department, officers were called to Inova’s Center for Personalized Health campus on Innovation Park Drive in Merrifield at 12:28 p.m. on Monday (Sept. 8) after a woman reported being sexually assaulted by her physical therapist during an appointment.
