Virginia’s 11th House District will likely be represented by another Bulova, starting next year.

Democratic voters in the district nominated Gretchen M. Bulova in a quick firehouse primary today (Tuesday) to succeed her husband, David Bulova, after the delegate resigned last Friday (Dec. 12) to accept an appointment in Gov.-elect Abigail Spanberger’s administration.

Plans are solidifying for another data center facility in the Route 28 corridor just east of Dulles International Airport.

A Fairfax County planner affirmed this month that a proposed data center would be “suitable” for the former Word of Grace Christian Church property at 13832 Redskin Drive in Herndon, and that the facility would be “fully consistent” with local ordinances, according to a letter uploaded to the county’s land use database yesterday (Monday).

Police are investigating the death of a man who experienced health issues after getting arrested for a crash in Fairfax City over the weekend.

Officers responded around 8:05 p.m. on Sunday (Dec. 14) for a single-vehicle crash at the Shell gas station at 11201 Fairfax Blvd. The 66-year-old driver was believed to have been under the influence of alcohol based on a preliminary investigation, the City of Fairfax Police Department says.

American Girl will soon be on the move at Tysons Corner Center.

The popular doll retailer is set to close its existing Tysons store on Jan. 4, 2026 ahead of a relocation to what appears to be a smaller storefront on the other side of the mall, according to notices posted on its website and signage in the store.

One person has died and three other people were injured Monday morning (Dec. 15) in a crash involving a taxi, a Metrobus and a van on Richmond Highway in Groveton.

Police received multiple calls reporting a crash in the 6300 block of Richmond Highway shortly after 10 a.m., Fairfax County Police Department Capt. Jesse Katzman said in a media update around 1 p.m.

At some point in the new year, Fairfax County residents might start seeing signs for 20-mph speed limits in their neighborhood.

The Fairfax County Department of Transportation has proposed several streets for inclusion in a pilot study testing the reduced speed limits that’s tentatively expected to launch in summer 2026.

As predicted, Fairfax County was hit by its second snowfall of the season overnight, though accumulations appear to have stopped short of the 1 to 3 inches forecast by the National Weather Service.

In anticipation of the winter weather, the Fairfax County Park Authority delayed opening its parks and facilities until 9 a.m. today (Sunday). Other county facilities opened on time.

Another snowstorm is expected to visit Fairfax County and the rest of the D.C. region tomorrow (Sunday).

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory shortly after 9 a.m. that’s expected to take effect at midnight and continue until 10 a.m.
