The team behind Fairfax City’s Bollywood Bistro is working on a new restaurant that they hope will transport diners in more ways than one.

Upon entering Mumbai Central in Idylwood, customers will find themselves in a space resembling a train compartment, decked out with a destination board, a ticket counter and other paraphernalia that evoke the restaurant’s namesake train station.

Three people have been arrested and charged with allegedly stealing thousands of dollars in candles from businesses at shopping centers in Kingstowne, Greenbriar and Springfield.

The Fairfax County Police Department says the “organized crew” of D.C. residents was behind 16 different thefts that occurred in February through May. The value of the candles stolen in each case ranged from $600 to over $4,300.

Fairfax County’s first major school boundaries overhaul in 40 years is set to move into its next phase.

With the last in a series of community engagement events set for Friday (June 6), the complicated effort of redrawing boundary lines will soon shift to a 95-member Superintendent’s Boundary Review Advisory Committee.

More than three decades ago, a man went missing in Falls Church. Two days later, a body was found off the Floridian coast roughly 1,000 miles away.

Authorities didn’t uncover the connection between the two cases until now, with the help of a genealogical investigation that confirmed the body was that of Edman Eric Gleed, who had been reported missing in November 1993.

A new housing subdivision is going up just outside Lake Fairfax Park in Reston.

The land outside the former Fairfax Hunt Club at 1321 Lake Fairfax Drive has been cleared, and fencing erected, to prepare for construction on the Fairfax Hunt Estates, which will ultimately consist of eight single-family homes.

Fairfax County and hundreds of other localities across the country were labeled “sanctuary jurisdictions” last week by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for limiting their cooperation with federal immigration officials.

The department accused the localities on the list — which was published on its website last Thursday (May 29) before apparently being removed over the weekend — of obstructing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from enforcing federal immigration laws, stating that they will all receive formal notices of non-compliance.

A Fairfax man has been arrested for groping and assaulting multiple women at different shopping centers in the Fair Oaks area earlier this week, police say.

Officers responded first to Fair Oaks Mall (11700 Fair Oaks Mall) at 5:04 p.m. on Wednesday (May 28) after two women reported that a man had “approached and touched them inappropriately,” according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

A Taylor Swift tribute band is coming back to Reston Station this summer as part of an extensive array of free seasonal concerts organized throughout the area by Reston Community Center (RCC).

The community center kicked off its annual summer concert and entertainment series over Memorial Day weekend with a jazzy happy hour at Reston Town Square Park (11900 Market Street) on May 23, courtesy of the Tania & Jeff Grubbs Quartet.
