Reston’s Tephra Institute of Contemporary Art (Tephra ICA) will feature a large-scale video installation in its latest exhibition.

“Three Kings Weep,” an exhibit by Jamaican-born artist Ebony Patterson, will be on view from Sept. 21 through Dec. 14 at Tephra’s Reston Town Center gallery (12001 Market Street, Suite 103).

Chesapeake Chocolates announced last Tuesday (Sept. 3) that it will shutter at the end of September after 17 years in Reston at 11426 Washington Plaza West.

A pair of buildings in Reston’s Campus Commons office park may soon get a facelift, including a less common upgrade for office spaces: pickleball.

TF Cornerstone, the property owner of 1900 and 1902 Campus Commons Drive, has asked Fairfax County to determine whether proposed amenity upgrades conform to the conditions of the existing development.

A significant portion of Reston Association’s future capital planning will depend on the future of its pools, according to a recently released reserve study.

A report by DMA Reserves estimates that it’ll cost RA nearly $94 million to replace its pools and splash pads in the coming decades — a whopping 49% of the roughly $191 million in anticipated facility replacement costs facing the organization.

Reston Regional Library is set to reopen on Sept. 16 at 10 a.m. after an 11-week closure for renovations.

The building — which is nearing the end of its life — underwent critical renovations throughout the summer, including ADA improvements for the main public restrooms, upgrades for all lighting fixtures, replacement of carpet in key areas, updates to public meeting rooms, and general paint, cleaning and blind repairs.

A homemade ice cream parlor can set up shop in the Crossroads of Dulles after receiving approval from Herndon late last month.

The Herndon Planning Commission unanimously approved a special exception on Aug. 26 for Ice Ice Ice Cream at the office condominiums, expanding the operating hours and number of permitted seats beyond what was allowed for previous occupants.

New members of Reston Association’s Board of Directors officially took over following the first board meeting after the election.

The new board formally elected its officers following a month-long election and annual meeting this week, where the results were announced.

A new pedestrian bridge is slated for installation this weekend over Wiehle Avenue at the Washington & Old Dominion Trail, according to the Fairfax County Department of Public Works and Environmental Services.

The installation will prompt the closure of Wiehle Avenue from midnight to 5 a.m. this Saturday (April 13).

It’s official: Friday Night Live! has announced its lineup for the 30th season of the popular outdoor concert series, which is produced by the Dulles Chamber of Commerce.

Live bands will take the stage in downtown Herndon behind the Herndon Municipal Center (777 Lynn Street) every Friday from May 3 through August 23. The performances take place between 6 and 10 p.m.

Reston Association has officially filled two key leadership positions, the organization announced last week. 

Ed Vroom, a former finance director at a Florida-based technology company, took over as the organization’s Chief Financial Officer last week. Vroom worked as the finance director and controller for L3Harris, a company that offers services for federal, civilian, defense and intelligence customers.
