An Alexandria woman has been arrested in connection with a bank robbery that occurred in Annandale on Monday (April 28).
The Fairfax County Police Department alleges that Vicky Vien Phung, 36, took just over $1,000 from the Capital One Bank at 7030 Little River Turnpike before fleeing.

A survey of Northern Virginia business leaders found high levels of uncertainty after months of turmoil from tariff policies and federal job cuts.
The Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce (NVC) and communications agency Pinkston released a Q2 Business Leader Survey yesterday (Tuesday) that collected feedback from business organizations in Fairfax, Falls Church, Reston and other locations around Northern Virginia.

D.C. Sues Virginia Drivers Over Unpaid Traffic Fines — “D.C. Attorney General Brian Schwalb announced Monday that the District of Columbia filed five lawsuits against drivers from Maryland and Virginia.” The prosecutor alleges that the drivers, including residents of Lorton and Herndon, collectively owe more than $400,000. A now-retired Fairfax County Public Schools teacher is facing criminal charges for allegedly assaulting a student and a colleague.
Detectives began investigating Mary Simons, 63, of Arlington after Child Protective Services received a tip on March 28 alleging that she had assaulted a student while teaching at Parklawn Elementary School in Lincolnia, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Construction has started on new shared-use pedestrian/cyclist paths in the Fair Oaks area, the Virginia Department of Transportation announced last week.
The project will replace the current sidewalks on Post Forest Drive and Random Hills Road with 10-foot-wide shared-use paths.

Local law enforcement has arrested a man accused of striking and killing a woman in a hit-and-run crash earlier this year.
Reginald Brown, 42, of Fairfax was arrested last Wednesday (April 23) and charged with a felony hit and run, stemming from the fatal Jan. 29 crash, the Fairfax County Police Department said.

A teen was shot after being tackled by a Virginia State Police trooper during a pursuit in the Kings Park West neighborhood early this morning (Tuesday).
The trooper encountered the 16-year-old boy while investigating a vehicle that had reportedly fled from a Fairfax City police traffic stop near Burke Station Road and Main Street at around 12:43 a.m., according to VSP spokesperson Matthew Demlein.

A driver who allegedly made an illegal U-turn in Annandale last Thursday (April 24) turned out to be wanted for homicide.
Cameron Alexander Anderson was taken into custody at the intersection of Medford Drive and Lucerne Lane around 8:25 p.m., the Fairfax County Police Department said.
