Join D.C. author Dolen Perkins-Valdez at Bards Alley for a discussion of her new historical novel “Happy Land”! She will be in conversation with Gina Warner, the founder of Bards Alley’s badass women’s book club, and taking audience questions.
Based on the real history of a post-Civil War Black community, “Happy Land” follows an African American woman as she uncovers family secrets and a profound legacy rooted in the Appalachian mountains. Publishers Weekly calls it “a beautifully rendered depiction of a lost world.” Copies will be available for purchase during the event, which includes a book signing.
