Join Herndon UMC for Brunswick Stew at Herndon
For nearly five decades, Brunswick Stew has been a cherished tradition at Herndon UMC. Started in 1977 by former member Hilda Evans, this delicious, hearty stew has brought our church community together each fall: warm fires, cast-iron pots, and lots of teamwork.
Herndon’s United Methodist Men (UMM) plan and prepare for Brunswick Stew Day months in advance; they spend the evening before peeling potatoes and chopping vegetables, They start Stew Day early, cooking together over open flames. This tradition is not just about great food, it is about fellowship and service to the community. Proceeds from the stew sales directly support Herndon UMC’s ministries and community programs, making it a meaningful way to connect and give back.
