“Myth to reality” shows Kate Brogdon’s portraits combining what we view along with unseen elements also present. The show includes a series of portraits rooted in reality with fantastical elements transporting toward myth. A portrait was historically crafted to capture a real person; this is combined with reality in the ephemera that arrive in daily fragments such as wrappers among the other packaging, invitations and advertisements and echoed by photographs to now serve as a starting point for various tales.
“Everything is interconnected” weaves through the other pieces for new myths about more oddments from life.
The opening is part of Second Saturday, held monthly with all the artists onsite and featuring food, vendors, live music, and more to entertain the whole family while you peruse through the Workhouse and all of its creative offerings. Arches Gallery changes out the show every two months with a new feature.
