PhotoGenesis 2 Opening Exhibition Reception

McLean Project for the Arts (MPA) will open its next Emerson Gallery exhibition, PhotoGenesis 2, on Thursday, November 20, 2025, with an Opening Exhibition Reception from 7-9pm.

Curated by MPA’s Artistic Director and Curator Nancy Sausser and MPA Assistant Curator Jen Lillis, this open-call show features work springing from photographic images, ideas, or techniques.

PhotoGenesis 2 showcases pieces by 19 Mid-Atlantic artists, including David Carlson, Bonnie Collier, Chris Combs, Joseph Cortina, Catherine Day, David Douglas, Pat Doyen, Marie B Gauthiez, Beatrice Hamblett, Don Kimes, Zofie King, Timothy Makepeace, Sam Miller, Terence Nicholson, Linda Plaisted, Judith Pratt, Maryam Rassapour, Sarah Salomon, Alexandra Silverthorne, and Dawn Whitmore.

“Comprised of work selected from more than 150 entries, PhotoGenesis 2 aims to highlight art using photography as inspiration, concept, and process in inventive, unexpected, and often unconventional ways,” explained Sausser. “The result is a compelling artistic mix that is not to be missed.”

In addition to the November 20 Opening Exhibition Reception, exhibition events include an Artist Talk on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 11am-1pm, a Tea and Talk on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at 11am, and a Closing Reception on Thursday, February 19, 2026 from 7-9pm.

PhotoGenesis 2 is the second installment in MPA’s fall/winter exhibition series. The first exhibition– Bernard (Bernie) Boston Retrospective: A Photojournalist, Social Justice Advocate, and Family Man—is currently on display in MPA’s Atrium Gallery.

The MPA Emerson Gallery is available for viewing Monday through Saturday from 10am-4pm. The Atrium Gallery is available to visitors during MCC hours of operation. PhotoGenesis 2 and the Bernie Boston Retrospective both run through February 24, 2026.
