Fairfax County is moving through the early stages of an ambitious plan to renovate the Centreville Regional Library and combine it with affordable housing.
During a public hearing before the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors on Sept. 29, more than half a dozen residents offered a range of views on the plan to construct 180 multifamily residential units and community space alongside the to-be-redeveloped library, located on just over 4 acres at 14200 Saint Germain Drive.

But before that project can move forward through a public-private partnership, the county needs to transfer ownership of the property itself: from the Board of Supervisors to the county’s Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FCRHA).

“The project could be built through a partnership with a private developer, and it may include new homes and an updated library in one building, featuring amenities for residents and the greater Centreville community,” Allyson Pearce, marketing and outreach manager for the county’s Department of Housing and Community Development, told FFXnow.
