Rabies Confirmed in Biting Coyote — The Fairfax County Health Department confirmed yesterday (Monday) that a coyote that bit four people and two dogs over the weekend in the Lake Accotink area was infected with rabies. Confederate Soldier’s Tombstone Defaced — The letters ‘CS,’ ‘NVA,’ and a Star of David were spraypainted on the tombstone of Armistead T. Thompson in the Thompson Family Cemetery by the Pan Am Shopping Center in Merrifield. A man died after possibly being electrocuted while trimming tree branches in the Fairfax area near George Mason University this morning (Friday), Fairfax County Police Department wrote in a tweet.

The man was found suspended by a rope about 25 feet up in the tree when units from the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department arrived around 8:30 a.m., the department reported.

The 27-year-old man found dead in a wooded area of Reston Tuesday (May 31) was likely killed sometime overnight, the Fairfax County Police Department said today (Thursday) in a press release.

A community member found Rene Alberto Pineda Sanchez of Reston on a walking path behind an apartment building in the 12000 block of Greywing Square, police said.

(Updated at 3:30 p.m.) A man was found dead in a wooded area in Reston this morning (Tuesday) in a suspected homicide, the Fairfax County Police Department said in a social media post.

Detectives arrived on the scene in the 12000 block of Greywing Square around 4 a.m. Police said the man was found with trauma to the upper body and was pronounced deceased.

A man in the Kings Park West area shot and killed his wife before dying by suicide on Saturday (May 14), the Fairfax County Police Department reported this afternoon (Monday).

Madeline Bregman, 76, and Michael Bregman, 77, were found deceased inside their home in the 10400 block of Stallworth Court, just north of Robinson Secondary School, when officers stopped by before 3 p.m. for a welfare check, according to police.

(updated at 4:30 p.m.) Police identified the second man who died at the Fairfax County Detention Center this week as the allegedly unlicensed masseuse who was charged with sexually assaulting a woman at an Annandale clinic.

Kyung Pil Chang, 55, of Haymarket was being held at the jail without bond on four felony charges related to a sexual assault at an Annandale location reported on Jan. 25. Chang was found unresponsive in quarantine housing at the jail around 4:25 p.m. yesterday (Tuesday). After medical staff and deputies rendered life-saving efforts, City of Fairfax Fire and Rescue pronounced him dead at 4:49 p.m.

A 65-year-old man incarcerated at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center died yesterday (Monday), triggering a police investigation.

According to the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office, a sheriff’s deputy found the man “unresponsive” in his cell at around 9:20 a.m.

A Reston woman was shot and killed by a Loudoun County sheriff’s deputy on Friday, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

Faubricia Vitraux Gainer, 36, was shot after she allegedly ignored deputy commands to drop her weapon at the entrance of an apartment on the 46600 block of Ellicott Square shortly after 4 a.m.
