(Updated at 4:45 p.m.) A 61-year-old inmate at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center died yesterday (Monday) in a hospital after “a medical emergency,” Fairfax County police said.

Glenn Myer was transported to Fairfax Hospital on Friday (July 15) for a medical emergency, according to a Fairfax County Police Department press release. He was in the ICU when he died from the medical emergency, police said.

Earlier: Fairfax County police are searching for a man wanted in a fatal stabbing in Springfield over the weekend.

(Updated at 11 a.m. on 7/8/2022) A man in McLean was shot and killed by a Fairfax County police officer last night (Thursday), the county’s second fatal police shooting in the past week.

Officers were called to a residence in the 6900 block of Arbor Lane for a report of a man “throwing objects outside,” the Fairfax County Police Department reported in a tweet at 9:38 p.m.

Fairfax County Police charged a 32-year-old man with malicious wounding in connection to the deadly assault of a homeless woman in Hybla Valley earlier this month.

Chante Antonio Jones was arrested yesterday (Monday) after an officer saw him a block away from where the assault happened, wearing similar clothing from the night of the attack, police said.

Motorcyclist Dies Falling from I-495 — “An Alexandria motorcyclist was killed Sunday afternoon (June 26) after crashing and falling nearly 30 feet off the westbound Interstate 495 overpass exit ramp for Eisenhower Avenue toward Mill Road…He was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.” [ALXnow]

A woman found seriously injured from an assault at a Hybla Valley bus stop earlier this month died from her injuries over the weekend, police said.

Fairfax County police say the injuries were likely from blunt force, but the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the specific manner and cause of death. This is the 12th homicide this year in the county, two more than at the same point in 2021.

(Updated at 3:40 p.m.) The community is starting to rally to support the families of two Oakton High School students who died after a car struck them on a sidewalk Tuesday (June 7).

A GoFundMe was created for one of the students, identified as Ada Gabriela. As of this morning (Thursday), the fundraiser had raised over $60,000 to help the family cover funeral expenses and other costs, surpassing its goal in less than a day. Another GoFundMe that went live Thursday has collected more than $13,000 for the other student who died.

(Updated at 4:55 p.m.) A man and two women were found dead with apparent gunshot wounds barricaded inside a room of an apartment in Fair Lakes today (Tuesday), Fairfax County police said.

Police found the three people dead inside the apartment in the 4200 block of Mazarin Place after a family member of one of the deceased called 911 and requested a welfare check, Executive Deputy Chief Brian Reilly said at a press conference.
