Fairfax County police are investigating a fatal stabbing Wednesday after a suspected domestic situation was reported in Oakton around 5:30 p.m.

Sgt. Jason Chandler, police spokesman, says one man is in custody and the other was pronounced dead at the scene, a residence in the 9800 block of Palace Green Way.

Fairfax County’s Police Civilian Review Panel approved its annual report Monday (Feb. 28) and hosted its new executive director for his first meeting in the role.

Appointed by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors on Feb. 22, Richardson is the first executive director for the panel, which was established in 2016 to review completed investigations of complaints alleging police abuse of authority or serious misconduct.

Fairfax County police identified the man killed in a shooting in Centreville on Monday night (Feb. 21) as a 37-year-old Leesburg resident.

Police officers responded around 10 p.m. to a townhouse in the 14800 block of Bodley Square in the London Towne area and found Amaru Amin Shabazz inside the home with multiple gunshot wounds, the department said in a news release. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Reston appears to have become a frequent destination for vehicle part thefts.

The Reston District Station has seen a record 16 thefts of auto parts this year alone, according to the Fairfax County Police Department. Last year, the station reported just two incidents.

A woman injured in a vehicle crash in Reston earlier this month has died, Fairfax County police announced today (Tuesday).

The crash occurred on Baron Cameron Avenue near the North Village Road intersection around 10:45 a.m. on Feb. 3, shutting down the avenue’s eastbound lanes.

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors expressed solidarity with the local Jewish community today (Tuesday) after dozens of anti-Semitic flyers were found in a Wolf Trap neighborhood over the weekend.

Reiterating a statement released on social media yesterday (Monday), Chairman Jeff McKay characterized the flyers as a backlash to the county’s embrace of religious diversity during the board’s meeting this morning.

Fairfax County police are investigating a fatal shooting that was reported just before 10 p.m. Monday in the 14800 block of Bodley Square. That is in the London Towne area of Centreville.

A man was pronounced dead at the scene. Sgt. Tara Gerhard, police spokeswoman, says this killing was not a random act and there is some sort of relationship between the victim and a man suspected of killing him.

Discarded Ashes Caused Herndon Fire — A house fire in the 12000 block of Sugarland Valley Drive in the Herndon area of Fairfax County was caused by improperly discarded fireplace ashes into a trash receptacle. A Fairfax County Police Department recruit and his wife have died after apparently “self-inflicted” shootings, police confirmed today (Monday).

Fairfax County police responded twice to a house in the 4200 block of Sonia Court, just down Route 1 from the South County Government Center in the Mount Vernon area on Saturday (Feb. 26), according to the police report.

(updated at 4:05 p.m.) A Fairfax County Police officer shot a 34-year-old man in Lorton this morning (Tuesday) after responding to a call for a suspicious van in a neighborhood.

At a press conference, Police Chief Kevin Davis said the man inside the van raised a rifle in the direction of police when one of the two responding officers shot him. He is in stable condition at a local hospital, Davis said.
