Work will start this month on improvements to pedestrian and bicyclist connectivity around the Innovation Center Metro Station.

Fairfax County public officials broke ground yesterday (Wednesday) on the Innovation Station North Neighborhood Access Project, which will directly link the Metro station’s kiss-and-ride parking lot to adjacent neighborhoods at Farougi Court and Apgar Place.

Planning is officially underway for the redevelopment of the office building at 575 Herndon Parkway.

The Town of Herndon’s Architectural Review Board will hold a work session tomorrow (Wednesday) to discuss plans to replace Dulles Overlook — a five-story office building formerly occupied by the consultant Booz Allen Hamilton — with a multi-family residential, retail and office building.

Amazon is looking to add an industrial park near Dulles International Airport to its network of Northern Virginia data centers.

Amazon Data Services has applied for air pollution control permits from the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to allow data center facilities at 13860 and 13876 Redskin Drive in Renaissance Technology Park, a warehouse complex just east of Route 28 in the Floris area of Herndon.

A plan to redevelop Van Buren Office Park in Herndon into a mostly residential development could be the first test case of a soon-to-be established zoning district in the Town of Herndon.

Rooney Properties, owner of the office park at 250 Exchange Place, wants to replace the five existing office buildings and surface parking with a 400-unit multi-family residential building and garage as well as 66 townhouse units.

Space in Herndon’s Woodland Park neighborhood that was previously approved for office uses could flip instead into a mostly residential building.

The Texas-based developer Trammell Crow Residential has purchased the contract for a little over three acres of vacant land at the intersection of the Dulles Airport Access Road and Monroe Street so it can construct an apartment building with 320 units and nearly 118,000 square feet of storage space.

A pair of office buildings built in Herndon’s McNair area at the turn of the millennium may soon be replaced with hundreds of homes.

The developer Mandrake Capital Partners is seeking to build 240 townhomes and 18 multifamily units on roughly 12 acres of land at the southwestern corner of the Dulles Technology Drive and Sunrise Valley Driver intersection, according to an application submitted to Fairfax County on Sept. 13.

Herndon foodies will soon have a more convenient option for tasting chef Peter Chang’s creations.

Peter Chang Herndon is set to open on Saturday, Sept. 28 in Arrowbrook Centre, the mixed-use development near Innovation Center Metro station, the restaurant announced yesterday (Thursday).

Early voting for the Nov. 5 general election in Fairfax County kicks off today (Friday) at three polling locations.

Voters will not only be deciding between Vice President Kamala Harris and former president Donald Trump in the presidential race, but also choosing candidates for Congress and, for Herndon residents, the town’s mayor and six council members. Several bond referenda and a proposed amendment to Virginia’s constitution will also be on the ballot.

The trial for a Herndon man facing charges in the slaying of his wife and another man will begin nearly two years after the killings occurred.

Brendan Banfield, 39, was indicted Monday (Sept. 16) on four counts of aggravated murder in connection to the stabbing of his wife, Christine Banfield, and the shooting of a man at their home in the Frying Pan area in February 2023.
